Understanding What Goes Into Your AVL Budget
When your church is planning an audio, video, and lighting (AVL) project, one of the first questions you’ll ask is: How much will it cost?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. And that’s a good thing.
Every project is shaped by your goals, your space, and the experience you want to create. But after hundreds of installs, we’ve found a few key factors that always impact the budget.
Let’s walk through them.
1. Scope of the Project
Are you upgrading one room, several spaces, or your entire campus?
Larger footprints require more gear, labor, and planning. A full-campus install with worship spaces, classrooms, and lobbies looks very different from a single sound system upgrade.
Whether it’s a single space or a full suite, we design systems that fit your environment and your team.
2. Production Quality
What kind of experience are you trying to create?
If you’re aiming for a high-end, broadcast-level experience with dynamic lighting and seamless transitions, it’s going to take a higher investment than a basic, in-room experience.
Churches livestreaming services or running complex stage productions often need more advanced tech and control systems.
3. Your Building’s Layout
Is your space AVL-friendly?
Some buildings are straightforward. Others require creative solutions. Older facilities or unconventional layouts can mean added work—running cabling, improving acoustics, or overcoming structural or layout challenges.
We’ve worked in just about every kind of space and know how to find the best path forward.
4. New Construction vs. Remodel
New builds give us a blank slate, which makes planning and execution easier.
Remodels can move faster but often come with constraints. Rerouting wiring, working around existing architecture, or adapting old infrastructure can add complexity.
Both can work. The key is knowing what to expect.
5. Your Ministry Goals
Ultimately, the system should support your mission—not get in the way.
Before we talk gear or specs, we ask: What does your church want to do?
Are you trying to improve clarity in the room? Add energy to worship? Reach more people online?
When we understand your goals, we can build a system that gets you there. See how other churches have brought their vision to life.
