Project Overview
Scope: Audio · Acoustics · Video · House & Theatrical Lighting · Broadcast Video
Venue Capacity: 1,200 seats
Primary Goals:
- Support congregation growth with 600% seating expansion
- Bring big, clear, consistent audio to every seat in the house
- Create an immersive visual environment using primary and accent lighting, house lighting, truss elements, and LED walls.
- Develop a flexible, campus-wide video infrastructure for streaming and content capture
“For years, The Orchard had been bursting at the seams… God opened the doors of a furniture store in Murrieta, and in 9 short months in their new home, they are filling their 1,200-seat auditorium with 3 services per Sunday. God is truly doing miraculous things…”
The move into a new space marked more than just a facility change for Orchard Church—it created room for continued growth, deeper engagement, and future-ready ministry.
Challenges and Vision
- Space Constraints: Low ceilings and limited rigging options, requiring careful planning for audio and lighting placement.
- Acoustic Needs: The new build presented reflection challenges that needed to be managed without compromising sound quality.
- Dynamic Lighting: Orchard’s vision included over 200’ of truss in the air to serve as both lighting infrastructure and a visual element to create the immersive environment they were looking for.
- Streaming Flexibility: Multi-venue video capture and transport, requiring a scalable, high-performance streaming infrastructure.
The Approach
From the start, Orchard Church approached this build with intention: to craft a space that would grow with them, support their worship DNA, and allow for meaningful connection—both in the room and online.
Early in the project’s development, Orchard Church brought in Vantage Pro and engaged in their Foresight Design process, starting with a 3-day workshop designed to collaboratively shape a ministry-aligned roadmap for technology in this new space. Leadership, worship, and production teams worked together to define a plan that honored their culture while expanding technical possibilities. Collaboration continued through every phase of construction as priorities were clarified, challenges addressed, and opportunities uncovered.
Rather than replicate what had worked before, the new auditorium was designed from the ground up to maintain intimacy in a space 600% larger than what they were used to. Audio systems were selected not just for clarity but for consistency across the room. Lighting positions and scenic elements were integrated into the building’s architecture to support both creativity and volunteer usability. An NDI video infrastructure ensured that live content could move freely across campus—future-proofing Orchard’s streaming and teaching platforms for years to come.
The result is a worship space that feels personal and powerful, built not only for Sundays but for the seasons ahead.
